Winter Activities

Winter in northern Michigan is beautiful, quiet, pristine. There is plenty to do but definitely with more of a "locals only" feel. Most years, Little Glen Lake freezes over, with opportunities for ice fishing, cross country skiing, ice skating, or just a lake walk.
The Sleeping Bear Dunes (which you can see from the house), offer the greatest sledding hill a kid could imagine while nearby Crystal Mountain offers beautiful and family friendly downhill skiing options. Plus, the Heritage Trail becomes a fully groomed cross country skiing trail that can take you all over the area while surrounded by beautiful forrest.
With restaurants much quieter than in the summer and snowy beach walks still an option, take advantage of this most glorious of slow seasons.
